Johanna Kalli joined Smartly.io in January 2015 and now manages the Spanish market and develops our customer support.
“Working at Smartly has been great!” Johanna says. “I am constantly learning and challenging myself. Motivated and ambitious colleagues and a relaxed company culture ensure it is a pleasure to come to work every morning.”
Johanna holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering and has a programming background in the field of electricity distribution automation. She is originally from Tampere, and speaks fluent Spanish in a Mexican accent. In her free time she loves to surf in Puerto Escondido, run, wakeboard, and hang out with her friends.
In 2014, Johanna organized the first Rails Girls workshop in Tampere to encourage more women to learn about the IT world. The event was a huge success with almost 500 applicants and broke all previous Rails Girls applicant records in Finland. In addition, the event got an impressive amount of media coverage. With the addition of Johanna, the Rails Girls story continues at Smartly.io—our company will organize Rails Girls workshops for all women interested in programming basics in the Helsinki area.
“I like to make stuff happen, and volunteer work has been part of my life for years!” Johanna comments. “Meeting new people is motivating and helps to widen your perspective.”
Last but not least, we recently hired Johanna’s dog Oomi, as well. He now works as the Head of Office Security in our Helsinki office. If you are interested in meeting our other team members, please visit our team page.
