Financial Controller

We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our global Finance team in Helsinki. This is an exciting time to join the Finance team, as we are progressing with development of our Group wide financial processes and controls, improving our financial reporting and in-housing our daily accounting routines. You will be a key player in making our monthly closing process quicker and more efficient.

In this position, you will have a key role in running and improving our monthly financial reporting. As a Financial Controller you will review monthly accrual calculations prepared by the accounting and payroll teams as well as work closely together with the financial planning and global reward teams to prepare and review calculations for the monthly bonus accruals. You will be responsible for analyzing and commenting on the personnel expenses of the Group companies for board reporting purposes. You will also do monthly financial statement analysis on the subsidiary numbers together with the other controlling team members. On top of this you will participate in drawing up the Group IFRS financial statements and take part in development and integration projects to make our financial processes more efficient.

As a Financial Controller at Smartly.io, you will:

• Ensure for your part that the monthly closing process stays in schedule by seeing that the accrual calculations are filed and reviewed in time.
• Be the key contact to our payroll team and responsible for the personnel expenses related accruals and analysis as well as commenting on them for board reporting purposes.
• Take part in the monthly financial statement analysis of the subsidiary numbers using both FAS and IFRS frameworks.
• Help in preparing and improving the structure of the Group financial statements
• Participate in development and integration projects to make financial processes more efficient with the other controlling team members.

We're definitely looking for you if you:

• Have 3-4 years of relevant working experience in auditing or auditing and controlling
• Possess a degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
• Are fluent in both FAS and IFRS frameworks
• Have audited listed companies or worked in the accounting and controlling team of a listed company 
• Have solid organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and co-operate with the team to execute in a fast-paced environment
• Have the needed seniority to work on and drive forward the assigned tasks independently
• Are detail and result oriented, comfortable working in collaborative settings, and have an eye for continuously automating and improving processes
• Are fluent in using MS Office (Excel) and Google Sheets
• Are comfortable using English in a work context
• Finnish language is considered and advantage, but not necessary in this position
• Prior knowledge of Netsuite ERP system is considered an advantage
